The hotel and convention center would cost more than $100 million and include a lazy river.

CONROE, TX -- A hotelier is inching his way closer to building a 200-room hotel and 40,000 to 60,000-square-foot convention center in downtown Conroe. Jay Patel of Rocket Hotels addressed the Conroe City Council Thursday to pitch his business plan and seek help constructing the Delta by Marriott hotel, The Courier reported.
The hotel has been proposed for Spirit of Texas Plaza. Patel has been in the hotel business 35 years; he owns the Holiday Inn at 7625 Katy Fwy and the Hyatt House at 15405 Katy Fwy, both in Houston, Community Impact reported. Patel's interest in building a hotel in downtown Conroe dates back four years, Community Impact added.
The hotel and convention center would cost more than $100 million and include a lazy river, the Courier added.
