State 7-on-7 Football Draws Released For 3 Montgomery Co. Teams
Grand Oaks, The Woodlands and The Woodlands Christian will compete in the Texas State 7-on-7 Championships this weekend in College Station.
MONTGOMERY COUNTY, TX — Grand Oaks, The Woodlands and The Woodlands Christian learned their draws for the Texas State 7-0n-7 Championships this weekend, as the pool play opponents were revealed Monday morning.
The tournament begins Thursday at Veterans Park in College Station. Teams from Divisions II and III will play Thursday and Friday with Division I teams playing Friday and Saturday.
The 7-on-7 format is a touch football, skill-position-centric game where tackling and blocking aren't allowed. High school teams, made up of players from the 11-man football teams at the schools, had to qualify for the Texas State 7-on-7 Championships through state qualifying tournaments.

The Woodlands Christian will compete in Division II in Pool F against defending Class 4A Division I state champion Argyle, Brownwood and Hamshire-Fannett. The Warriors will face Hamshire-Fannett at 1:45 p.m. Thursday, followed by games against Brownwood at 3:15 p.m. and Argyle at 4:45 p.m. All Division II teams are seeded by pool play results into the championship bracket, which begins at 8:45 a.m. Friday.
Grand Oaks and The Woodlands will both compete in Division I. The Woodlands is in Pool B with Colleyville Heritage, Edinburg North and Hutto, while Grand Oaks is in Pool E with College Station, Midlothian and Wolfforth Frenship.

The Highlanders will open pool play against Hutto at 1 p.m. Friday with games against Edinburg North at 2:30 p.m. and Colleyville Heritage at 4 p.m. At the same times, the Grizzlies will play College Station first, followed by Wolfforth Frenship and Midlothian.
The top two finishers in each pool advance to the Division I championship bracket, which begins at 8:45 a.m. Saturday. The third- and fourth-place teams will participate in the consolation bracket beginning at 8 a.m.
