Connor Washington won 2 state titles and nearly a third to highlight Montgomery Co. efforts in the UIL Class 6A Track & Field Championships.

AUSTIN — College Park senior Connor Washington won three medals, including two golds, to help the Cavaliers to a third-place finish in the Class 6A boys division at the UIL Track & Field Championships on Saturday at the University of Texas' Mike A. Myers Stadium.

Washington won the 200 meters with a time of 20.39 seconds and anchored the College Park 4x400 relay team to a blazing 3 minutes, 13.37 seconds, claiming the state title by more than two seconds. Washington also finished second by hair in the 100 as he and Harlingen's Jose Garcia had to go to a thousandths of a second tiebreaker. Garcia edged Washington 9.998 to 9.999 seconds.
