Tribute to Cops in Conroe

Conroe, TX -- A group of Montgomery County citizens plan to hold a tribute to law enforcement on the steps of the county courthouse, 301 N. Main St. in Conroe, at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 12. Conroe Mayor Toby Powell will preside over the brief tribute.

Darrel Bayer, artistic director of The Woodlands Symphony Orchestra, will perform music. Montgomery County Sheriff Tommy Gage will be among the representatives of law enforcement at the ceremony.

The tribute will be held just days after a group of about 25 members of Conroe's black community held a peaceful protest at the corner of Frazier Street and State Highway 105 to highlight the need for clearer lines of communication between law enforcement officers and minorities.
