What's On The Agenda In Montgomery County?

Montgomery and Shenandoah City Councils will declare the results of the May 1 election this week.

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, TX — Many city councils and school boards across Montgomery County are meeting for the first time since the May 1 election and will be verifying results and swearing in members this week.

Here is what's on the agenda in meetings across the county this week.

Monday:

The Magnolia Independent School District Board of Trustees will hold its budget workshop at 5 p.m. and its regular meeting at 6:30 p.m. at the Magnolia Event Center. At its regular meeting, the board will swear in board members elected in the May 1 election and recognize the fine arts program, athletics programs and the cheer team. The board also is set to approve vendors for custom Magnolia ISD apparel as well as the cancellation of its June regular meeting.

The Montgomery Independent School District Board of Trustees will hold a special meeting at 11:30 a.m. to canvas the results of the May 1 election.

Carol Langley, T.J. Wilkerson and Byron Sanford will be sworn in to the Montgomery City Council after their victories in the May 1 election at a meeting set for 6 p.m. at Montgomery City Hall. A Mayor Pro-Tem also will be elected at the meeting, which will feature limited public attendance and can be attended via Zoom. For the Zoom information, click here.

The Magnolia City Council will have its monthly meeting at 7 p.m., where it will host a public hearing and consider action on the annexation of two separate parcels of land into the city limits. The council also will approve the 2021 Christmas parade route.

The Shenandoah City Council will declare the results of the May 1 election for City Council Positions 2, 3 and 4 and swear in the elected officials. Also on the agenda is the discussion and possible appointment to fill the position of Place 2 on the Planning and Zoning Commission.

Wednesday:

The Conroe City Council will have the first of its two-part meeting at 2 p.m. at the City Hall Council Chambers at 300 W Davis St. Among the agenda items up for discussion are a proposed music festival to begin in 2022 and the re-appointment of Planning Commission members.

Thursday:

The Conroe City Council will resume its two-part meeting at 6 p.m. to consider action on many of the items discussed Wednesday. The council also will consider action on purchasing land at 150 N Main St.
