Willis-area Manhunt Enters Third Day

Local authorities are looking for a man who fled from Walker County to Willis and has remained on the loose.

WILLIS, TX — Authorities are searching for a man who led Walker County deputies on a chase.

On Wednesday, a Walker County Sheriff's deputy located an SUV that had been reported stolen. When the deputy attempted to initiate a traffic stop the driver took off.

The driver headed south on I-45 through New Waverly, crossed the county line and headed down to Willis. The chase ended at Shepherd Hill in Willis.

The driver abandoned the vehicle and took off into a heavily wooded area. Officials have declined to release the name or a description of the suspect.

Area residents are advised to call law enforcement if they see anyone or anything suspicious.
