Willis Child Molester Gets Life Sentence

CONROE, TX — Dell Ivan Godkin, 48, was sentenced to life in prison on Friday, Aug. 12, for sexually assaulting a relative of his on multiple occasions over the span of at least three years.

When the jury came back with a guilty verdict, Godkin was facing 5-99 years or life in prison. Since Godkin left punishment up to Judge Lisa Michalk of the 221 District Court, he got life.

Michalk was also free to consider Godkin's prior bad acts during the sentencing phase and Assistant District Attorney Sheri Culberson told the court that Godkin is under investigation for allegedly sexually abusing another child in Liberty County for years in the 1990s.

Although, since the statute of limitations may have expired on that charge, whether that case ever sees the inside of a courtroom is debatable.

The victim's family was relieved by the verdict and the sentence, Godkin's not so much. His family still doesn't believe that he did anything, although they did admit that they skipped out on the testimony outlining exactly what Godkin did.
