Dia De Los Muertos Exhibit Once Again Delights At Harlingen Museum

Harlingen, Texas–Today, millions of people around the world are celebrating Day of the Dead or El Dia De Los Muertos and nobody does it better than the Harlingen Arts and Heritage Museum who has an extraordinary Altar Exhibit on display.

The altars are set up by family and friends to honor deceased loved ones. Each altar emulates the lively Mexican holiday celebrated annually on November 1. Dia De Los Muertos is celebrated throughout Latin America but the tradition was started in Mexico.
The exhibits will be on display through November 10. The Harlingen Arts and Heritage Museum is located at 2425 Boxwood Street. It is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. and Sundays from 1 – 4 p.m. As always, there is no entry fee to visit the museum.

You can also make a quick trip to downtown Harlingen to see the City’s mural paying homage to the Day of the Dead ceremonies. The Dia De Los Muertos mural is located at the corner of B Street and Monroe. It was painted by artist eRic Luplow of Truchas, New Mexico. It depicts a Catrina, the popular female skeleton figure leading a parade of musicians and farmers through the City Cemetery.
