HARLINGEN, TEXAS–The Harlingen City Commission this week recognized Joe Ayala as his Harlingen restaurant celebrates its 25th Anniversary.

Ayala owns Pepe’s Restaurant which has successfully served hundreds of thousands of people from all over the Rio Grande Valley and the nation since opening in 1994.

Originally from Brownsville, he moved to Harlingen in 1984 to manage a restaurant before opening his own.

Ayala is also a member of the Texas Softball Hall of Fame who goes out of his way to support and sponsor local athletes.

Mayor Chris Boswell presented him with a special certificate of recognition and proclaimed September 27th as Pepe’s Restaurant 25th Anniversary Day.

The City of Harlingen congratulates Joe Ayala for his many years of service in the restaurant business and to the community.
