HCISD: Cardinal Athlete Jose Garcia Earns State Championship With Record-Breaking Run

Harlingen High School senior, Jose Garcia was named state champion in the 100-meter dash with a record-breaking time of 10.00 seconds at the Class 6A state track & field meet.

Garcia competed in the 100 and 200-meter dash, the 400 relay, and long jump at the state meet. Along with his first-place win in the 100-meter dash, he also earned second-place medals in long jump and the 200-meter dash.

Garcia qualified for the Class 6A state track & field meet after winning four gold medals and a team championship at the Region IV track meet.

The UIL Class 6A state track & field meet was held at the Mike A. Meyers Stadium in Austin, Texas.
