Animal Shelter Overwhelmed: 200 Animals Dropped Off Last Weekend

"Can you please take care of my dog?" pleaded one owner in a note left with the pet.

HOUSTON, TX — It was a busy Memorial Day Weekend at the Harris County Animal Shelter, which took in about 200 animals over the long weekend.

One of those dogs was Lee, a small white poodle who was left in a crate with a note attached, begging the staff to please find Lee a good home.

“Can you please take care of my dog? He’s a great puppy, I just couldn’t afford to keep him,” the note read in part.

The former owner added that Lee doesn't bite, but will bark and that he is loved.

Despite being abandoned, Lee is one of the lucky dogs who is being fostered until he can find a new home.
