HOUSTON, TX -- Tropical Storm Nicholas began to slow down over Houston after dumping over a foot of rain and cutting off a half million homes from power. Forecasters warn that Nicholas could potentially bring life-threatening floods all across the South in the next week.

Nicholas arrived on Tuesday in the Matagorda Peninsula but was downgraded from a hurricane to a tropical storm. Nicholas is the 14th named storm of this years Atlantic Hurricane season.
