Community Outraged After Restaurant Employees Mock Deputies

Employees who played derogatory rap song aimed at disrespecting officers lose their jobs.

CROSBY, TX -- A Facebook post describing how law enforcement officers were mocked by employees at a local barbecue restaurant sparked sharp responses from patrons, and led to the firing of two employees.

The Facebook post, which was reportedly written by a deputy constable, described the treatment he and other law enforcement officers received from employees there.

The Facebook poster, who is allegedly a Harris County Deputy Constable, wrote that employees at Going’s Barbecue played a derogatory rap song in the kitchen, which was loud enough for the deputies to hear in the dining area.

The song, (expletive) the Police, was played loudly, and according to the Facebook post, “the guy washing dishes was singing the song and pointing out toward the eating area. He turned and noticed me standing there, and started laughing.”

Bonnie Quinn told KPRC she was scrolling through her Facebook feed while she was filling her car with gas, and read the post.

“I just blew a gasket,” Quinn said. “I just couldn’t believe it.”

The Facebook posting went viral and was shared thousands of times within a matter of hours, according to KPRC.

Quinn and other customers who were angered by the posting, drove to the restaurant to express their disappointment, and at least one customer said he’ll never eat there again.

"Well, basically, I came down to tell the management goodbye," Richard Jenkins said.

Management at the restaurant explained that the employees who’d mocked and ridiculed the deputies had been fired, but Jenkins said it will not change his mind.

"It does not matter," said Jenkins. "We don't treat first responders and people who help us keep our laws in order this way."

Meanwhile, one of the fired employees posted a formal apology to the officers, and the public, on the Going’s Barbecue and Steak Co. Facebook page, and the owners of the restaurant also issued a written apology.

“We love and respect the men and women of law enforcement,” the statement from Going’s Barbecue and Steak Co. ownership read.
