Congressional Reps Host Sexual Assault Forum At Rice University

HOUSTON, TX — Join U.S. Representative Ted Poe (TX-02) and Reps. Pete Olson (TX-22), John Culberson (TX-07), and Sheila Jackson Lee (TX-18) for a discussion regarding the response and prevention of sexual assault on campus.

As a former judge, prosecutor, and founder of the Congressional Victims’ Rights Caucus (VRC), Congressman Poe is a longtime advocate of victims and believes that crimes such as sexual assault recognize no political parties, ideologies, or Congressional District boundaries.

As co-chairman of the VRC, Ted Poe plays a vital role in passing legislation to safeguard our children and to ensure that the needs and issues facing victims of crime are equally represented.

Previously, Congressman Poe has spoken on the floor of the House addressing the Stanford Rapist Brock Turner and more recently, the Megan Rondini case.

This forum seeks to engage in a useful discussion about sexual assault on campuses and generate ideas for best practices for Universities and legislators to address this serious issue.

It is our hope that by engaging students, administrators and experts, we can raise awareness on this issue and have an open discussion about plausible solutions.
