Donations Needed To Help Battered Dog Named Gus: Animal Rescuers
The dog had at least 25 pellet wounds and a shoestring that had cut into his neck.

HOUSTON, TX - An animal rescue group is raising money for the medical expenses of a battered dog found Wednesday night at a southeast Houston apartment complex. The dog, who rescuers named Gus, had at least 25 pellet wounds and some of the pellets were still lodged inside him. A shoestring had been tied around his neck and was cutting into his flesh, Houston K-911 Rescue said.
Gus was undergoing surgery at Texas A&M's Small Animal Clinic on Friday afternoon, according to Houston K-911. The animal rescue group needs help paying Gus's medical bills. The group expects the bills to reach more than $20,000.
Donations can be made on the Houston K-911 website here or you can call Vergi animal hospital and make donations for Gus. The number is 713-932-9589. Gus was initially treated at Vergi.

Gus had suffered from his wounds and a swollen head for more than a year, according to neighbors at the apartment complex.
