TOMBALL, TX — An elderly woman was shot and killed in a drive-by shooting incident that also wounded an 11-year-old girl in a Houston suburb early Sunday morning. Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez confirmed the death of the woman Sunday before 8 a.m.

Gonzalez said sheriff's police officers responded to the shooting in the 23000 block of Bettywood Lane in Tomball around 1:30 a.m. to find the elderly woman suffering from "sustained gunshot wounds."

It was a relative of the victim who returned fire and inadvertently hit an 11-year-old girl in a nearby home, Gonzalez said. The 11-year-old sustained minor injuries in the gunfire.
