F-Bar Hit With Wrongful Death Lawsuit

Popular gay club F-Bar is being sued for failing to prevent a 2015 fatal shooting

HOUSTON, TX — Popular gay club F-Bar was recently hit with a wrongful death lawsuit. The suit seeks an unspecified amount of monetary damages related to the 2015 murder of Juan Carlos Ramirez.

Ramirez, 22, was killed when a carjacking went south. In March 2015, two teenagers allegedly walked up to Ramirez and a female companion as they were leaving the club and demanded his truck at gunpoint.

Ramirez tried to fight the juveniles off, but they shot him in the face and took his keys. After the shooting Ramirez's companion, Chloe, went to get help.

Ramirez staggered towards the entrance of the bar, before collapsing against a wall and dying. The teens allegedly took the truck, and some of Chloe's stuff, and headed to the Southeast side.

Within 24 hours, the truck had been found and the teens allegedly confessed to killing Ramirez.

The lawsuit, filed by Ramirez's father Sergio Ramirez and mother Reinalda Rubio, claim that F-Bar failed to provide adequate security.

In the complaint, filed July 25 in the Harris County 61st District Court, Sergio and Rubio allege that F-Bar's owner, MK 202 Entertainment, knew that the club was in a high crime area and didn't provide a security guard, cameras or lighting.

Ramirez' parents are asking for a jury trial.
