George Strait Breaks Attendance Record At NRG Stadium

More than 80,100 people filled NRG stadium on the last day of the Houston Live Stock Show and Rodeo on Sunday, shattering the 2013 record.

HOUSTON — George Strait wrapped up the 2019 Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo by setting a new attendance record at NRG stadium, officials announced Monday. More than 80,100 attendees paid to see Strait, and country stars Lyle Lovett and Robert Earl Keen perform on the last day of Rodeo Houston.

The concert-only performance shattered the previous mark set by Strait in 2013, when 80,020 came to see the country music giant perform with Martina McBride and Randy Rogers.

The Rodeo Houston performance was the 30th for Strait, who first appeared at the rodeo in 1984.

Officials with Rodeo Houston said in a press release that the NRG Stadium record is separate from the Paid Rodeo/Concert attendance records, as this is a concert-only performance with additional floor seats of the stadium.
