HCSO Investigating Incident In Restaurant Parking Lot After Man Dies
A fight in a restaurant parking lot in the 17700 block of Crosby Freeway in Harris County is under investigation.

CROSBY, TX — The Harris County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fight between the husbaqnd of a Harris County Sherff's Deputy, and a 24-year old father who died several days after that fight.
The incident happened at 11:40 p.m. on May 28, in a restaurant parking lot in the 17700 block of the Crosby Freeway in east Harris County.
Deputies were told that a 41-year-old male was with his children and was pulling into the parking lot when he allegedly saw a 24-year-old male urinating in public view.

The 41-year-old male verbally confronted the other male, identified as John Hernandez, about his behavior, and a fight started.
The 41-year-old male is the husband of a Harris County Sheriff’s Deputy. The deputy was off-duty at the time.

The off-duty deputy arrived in a separate vehicle to meet her family at the restaurant and called for assistance from the sheriff’s office and EMS.
She then helped her husband restrain Hernandez.
When the off-duty deputy observed that Hernandez had stopped resisting, she and her husband stopped restraining him and then noticed that he was not breathing .
The off-duty deputy immediately began CPR and continued until Emergency Medical Services (EMS) arrived and transported the man to LBJ Hospital for treatment.
Hernandez was in a coma for several days and died early Thursday.
The incident remains under investigation.
