Investigators Search For Suspect In Fatal Hit and Run ​

64-year old James Hayden was riding his bike as an unknown vehicle drifted, hit, and killed him. The driver fled the scene immediately.

HOUSTON, TX — The Harris County Sherirff's Office is investigating a hit and run accident that claimed the life of a Houston man on July 17.

At approximately 9:55 pm, 64-year-old James Hayden was riding a bicycle northbound on the shoulder of Veterans Memorial Drive (near South Camden Parkway), when an unknown vehicle failed to maintain a single lane of travel while traveling northbound.

Witnesses said the vehicle drifted onto the shoulder and struck hit Hayden who was riding his bicycle.

The driver fled the scene immediately following the crash and failed to stop to render aid or provide any information.

Hayden was transported to the Houston Northwest Hospital in critical condition and later died from the injuries he sustained during this collision.

The suspect vehicle is described as a small four door sedan (possibly an older model Dodge Neon).

The color is described as a dark gray or tan and the front bumper being painted black.

The vehicle was described as having damage to the front right.

Anyone with information on this case is urged to contact the Harris County Sheriff's Office Traffic Enforcement Division at 713-274-7400.
