Houston Area Sees Flooding As Storms Roll Through Region

The National Weather Service issued a flash flood watch until 10 p.m. for much of southeast Texas

HOUSTON — The rain that forecasters have warned gulf coast residents for days has finally arrived making for a messy and dangerous commute on Houston area roadways.

The National Weather Service issued a flash flood warning for Fort Bend, Austin, Brazoria, Jackson, Matagorda and Wharton counties. A flash flood watch remains in effect for much of southeast Texas, including Houston and Harris County until 10 p.m. Wednesday.

The periods of heavy rain that rolled into the Houston area before sunrise caused some street flooding.

According to Houston Transtar those impacted areas include:

  • I-45 northbound at I-10 exit ramp
  • I-45 northbound at Southmore
  • I-69 northbound at FM 360 in Fort Bend County.

More rain is expected throughout the day Wednesday, and into the overnight hours into Thursday morning
