Helping For The Holidays: Volunteering To Spread Christmas Cheer

HOUSTON, TX — It’s the week before Christmas and those Christmas toy drives, and holiday food drives have all to wind down. However, there are places you can still make a difference if you’ve got a heavy dose of the Christmas spirit and you still want to help.

Some of these organizations may not be looking for toys, clothing or food, but could use volunteers to help the needy, homeless and less fortunate during the Christmas season.

• Northwest Assistance Ministries
• Houston Toys For Tots
• West Houston Assistance Ministries
• Star of Hope Mission
• My Brother’s Keeper Outreach Center
• Houston Children’s Charity
• Salvation Army
• Houston Food Bank

Many churches in the Houston area may also be looking for volunteer help this Christmas for help with any Christmas food drives, clothing or toy drives, or volunteers to help in other areas of outreach.

School Districts, hospitals, or police and fire departments may also be looking for volunteers to help with charity programs during this time of the year.

Officials ask that you call ahead or contact organizations via email to before you go to any organization.
