Houston Nurse Convicted in $8 million Medicare Fraud Scheme

A Houston nurse was convicted of bilking Medicare for $8 million

HOUSTON, TX — Ann Anyanwu, 53, of Houston was convicted in federal court on three counts of defrauding Medicare.

From January 2012 through June 2015 Anyanwu, and others, used Houston-based Medpsych Home Health Care to submit false and fraudulent claims for home health services. The fake health care benefits were often unnecessary and never provided.

Anyanwu also created false medical records for unprovided nursing services. In addition to Anyanwu, two other people involved with Medpysch are have pleaded guilty to Medicare fraud.

Precious Deshield, Medpsych's former owner and director of nursing administration, and Roland Johnson, Medpsych's owner/operator, are both awaiting sentencing on Medicare fraud charges.
