Houston PD Investigation Into Fatal Crash At 5800 Eastex Freeway

Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 5800 Eastex Freeway (North U.S. Highway 59) about 10:50 a.m. today (May 28).

The identity of the male victim, 52, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant L. Ross and Officer D. Nguyen reported:

The victim was driving a tractor-truck towing an over-sized load southbound on the freeway at the above address when he apparently suffered a medical episode as he was driving on the freeway exit ramp to the 610 North Loop East (North Interstate Highway 610 East). The truck struck a retaining wall on the ramp. Paramedics transported the driver to Lyndon B. Johnson General Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

No other vehicles or persons were involved in the crash. The investigation is continuing.
