Houston Woman's Cat Mistakenly Euthanized At Routine Vet Visit

HOUSTON, TX — A Houston woman is mourning the loss of her pet after it was accidentally euthanized during a routine visit to Suburbia North Animal Hospital.

Michelle Olson received a call from the veterinarian at Suburbia North after taking her 8-year-old cat, Sophie, for her rabies vaccination. According to a report, the vet asked Olson to return Sophie to their office immediately because staff "gave her Euthanasia instead of a rabies vaccine.”

Olson returned to Suburbia North with Sophie, but it was too late. Sophie was eventually taken to an emergency animal hospital but died two days later.

"They’re very sorry …that’s all they can say, really. Yes, it was an accident, I get that, but it was an accident that should’ve never happened,” Olson said.
