Imelda In Houston: More Rains Expected
A flash flood watch that was in effect has now been extended through Thursday morning.

HOUSTON, TX — Rains from Imelda soaked southeast Texas on Wednesday and weather officials predicted that more rain would continue to fall through the night. Rainfall rates of 2 to 4 inches per hour are expected to accompany Wednesday's storms making flooding possible in some areas.
According to the National Weather Service in Houston, rainfall totals ranged from between two to eight inches across the region with higher isolated totals. As of 7 a.m. central time, these were the rainfall totals for the region:
Matagorda/Brazoria counties and Barrier Islands: 4-8 inches with isolated totals of up to 16 inches

Galveston eastward into Chambers County: 2-6 inches with isolated totals of up to 12 inches
Fort Bend/Liberty/Harris Counties: 2-4 inches with isolated totals of up to 9 inches

"The remnants of Tropical Storm Imelda in western Montgomery county early this morning will continue slowly very slowly drift and wobble northward today," the NWS wrote in an advisory. "Deep tropical moisture will continue to stream into the region today through Thursday fueling the redevelopment of showers and thunderstorms."
Harris County officials said minor street flooding and ponding is expected with continued rainfall.
The Houston Office of Emergency Management was alerting residents to street intersections where high water had been reported. Updated information on high water locations can be found here.
The flash flood watch that was in effect for a portion of southeast Texas until Wednesday afternoon has now been extended up to 7 a.m. on Thursday. The flash flood watch is in effect for the following counties: Brazoria Islands, Chambers, Coastal Brazoria, Coastal Galveston, Coastal Harris, Coastal Matagorda, Fort Bend, Galveston Island and Bolivar Peninsula, Inland Brazoria, Inland Galveston, Inland Harris, Inland Matagorda, Matagorda Islands, Northern Liberty, Southern Liberty and Wharton.
A flood warning is in effect for Clear Creek in League City.
