Investigators Seek Leads In Death of Houston Woman
Harris County Sheriff's Office homicide investigators seek information on murder suspect.

HOUSTON, TX - From the desk of The Harris County Sheriff's Office: Harris County Sheriff’s Office District 1 patrol deputies responded to an in progress call reporting a shooting at The Abbey at Champions apartment complex located at 14101 Walters’s road in north Harris County.The male caller reported that his girlfriend accidentally shot herself. The caller removed the couple's small child from the scene and fled before units arrived.When deputies entered the apartment, they found 25-year-old Maritza Lopez dead from an apparent gunshot wound.
No weapon was recovered at the scene.The male caller has been identified as 26-year-old Carlos Gonzalez (DOB 01/02/1991), an El Salvadorian national.He has now been charged with the murder of Maritza Lopez, and his current whereabouts is unknown at this time.A photo of Gonzalez is attached to this release. Anyone with information on this suspect is urged to call the Harris County Sheriff’s Office Homicide Unit at 713-274-9100.
