The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives sent agents and dogs to the scene of the shooting, spokesman Deon Washington told AP. He also called it "a pretty rapidly evolving situation.”

Police are still working to determine the shooter's motive.

The Texas shooting marks the second mass shooting in the United States in the last 24 hours.

On Wednesday afternoon, police said five people were killed at a home just south of Rock Hill, South Carolina, a city of about 73,000 people on the other side of the state line from Charlotte, North Carolina. Police found five people fatally shot, including Dr. Robert Lesslie, his wife, their two young grandchildren, and one other person; a sixth victim was seriously wounded.

The gunman was former NFL player Phillip Adams, who killed himself early Thursday, according to a report by The Associated Press.
