Meet The Man Behind Houston's Greatest Christmas Lights Show

One of the most popular songs in this year's light show is Travis Scott's "Sicko Mode."

HOUSTON, TX -- A 40-year-old Houston man has turned the front of his home into the hottest show this holiday season for the second year in a row. Frankie To-ong, of Spring, is the creative mastermind behind a holiday light show that includes hits from Houston artists Paul Wall, Travis Scott, and Mike Jones. After unveiling his creation last week, videos of his show have gone viral.

One such video was posted by Twitter user @mccauley318 and retweeted by Travis Scott, whose hit "Sicko Mode" is featured in the show. The video has been viewed more than 3 million times as of Friday afternoon.

"It's cool to get the attention when you're a fan of artists and superstars. If i can do something that Travis Scott will look at it and acknowledge it, that would be cool. How else could I make a connection with people i could admire?" To-ong, a DJ and IT manager, told Patch Friday afternoon.

To-ong's entire show took more than 11 hours to mix, program, and assemble in front of his home. Powering the show is hardware from Light-O-Rama, To-ong said.

To-ong used similar hardware in 2017 when he created a similar light show honoring Houston's hip hop scene and the Astros, which had just won the World Series. He credits his wife with the idea.

"It just blew up and people started sharing it from my Facebook account," To-ong said.

The publicity resulted in hordes of cars descending on his home to watch the show. This year To-ong is being more cautious as to when he runs the light show so he doesn't annoy his community.

"It was a mad house over here," To-ong said. "I'm trying to be respectful. I don't want to be that neighbor."
