HOUSTON — The New England Patriots have filed tampering charges against the Houston Texans for attempting to hire Nick Caserio to become the teams new general manager.

The Patriots filed a complaint with the NFL on Wednesday and the league is expected to begin their investigation into the allegations.

On June 7, the Texans fired general manager Brian Gaine after just 18 months on the job. A day earlier, the New England Patriots held their Super Bowl ring ceremony in Boston.

Former Patriots team chaplain and current Texans executive vice president of team development Jack Easterby attended that party and may have spoken with Caserio about joining the Texans organization, according to an ESPN report.

On June 10 the Texans asked the Patriots for permission to interview Caserio for the GM post, but have not received a response.
