Orphaned Baby Eagle Rescued From Nest
Eaglet's mother was killed by a hunter earlier this week, receiving care at Wildlife Center of Texas.

HOUSTON, TX -- Officials with the Houston SPCA’s Wildlife Center of Texas are caring for an eaglet that was orphaned earlier this week when its mother was killed.
The eaglet, which is between five and six weeks old, was found in its nest and was taken to the Wildlife Center of Texas for evaluation.

On Feb. 22, Harris County sheriff's deputies arrested a 17-year old Orlando Delgado after he allegedly shot and killed an American Bald Eagle with a pellet gun.
The eagle was found at the base of a tree along White Oak Bayou, shot several times.

Meanwhile, officials said the eaglet was hungry and dehydrated, but otherwise healthy.
The baby bird will be cared for until he can be transferred to a surrogate facility in the San Antonio area .
