Scam Alert: Con Artists Targeting Pokemon Go Players
The Houston Better Business Bureau issued a warning about scams related to Pokemon Go.

HOUSTON, TX — Pokemon Go, like any good thing, could only remain unsullied for so long.
The Houston Better Business Bureau recently issued a warning about scammers targeting Pokemon Go players through email. Some players have received emails claiming that there will now be a fee to play the game.
The emails claim that the fee is being introduced because of Pokemon Go's explosive popularity. The scammers threaten that, if the fee is not paid, Pokemon accounts will be frozen. Included in the email is a link to the game's 'new' premium/paid version.

Another email circulating offers free Pokecoins for clicking on a link and filing out a survey. Whoever clicks on the links in either email gets taken to a third-party site not associated with any of the companies behind Pokemon Go — Niantic, the game's developers, Nintendo or the Pokemon Company.
The bogus, third-party sites then try to steal passwords and gain access to personal or financial information on mobile devices. As of press time, Pokemon Go is still free to play and immensely popular.
