Shark Bites Girl in Galveston

A shark bit a six-year-old girl in Galveston.

Galveston, TX — A six-year-old girl was injured after being bitten by a shark at Pirates Beach on Tuesday, June 14. 

The girl was wading when the shark bit her, according to a Facebook post from her father, Matthew Grove Melton.

The bite was below the girl's calf muscle and above her foot, in the area around her extensor muscles and Achilles tendon.

Although she suffered significant soft tissue damage, and will require multiple surgeries, the girl is recovering at the University of Texas Medical Branch and is in stable condition.
