Weekend Travel Alert: US 290 Construction Brings Closures

From Texas DOT: Below are details on US 290 construction closures for the weekend of April 28, 2017. Projects, A, B and C-2 (Bauer to Harris/Waller County Line) The contractor will switch US 290 eastbound traffic to new pavement on the south side of the freeway from the Harris/Waller County Line to Badtke.

• Hot Spot! US 290 eastbound mainlanes from FM 362 to Badtke will have one alternating lane closed, and US 290 westbound mainlanes from Badtke to FM 362 will have one inside lane closed, continuously from 9 p.m., Friday, April 28 to 5 a.m., Monday, May 1. Entrance and exit ramps on US 290 eastbound will be closed as crews switch traffic.

Project G (US 290/Beltway 8 Interchange) Repairs will be made to the crash cushion on eastbound US 290, east of FM 529.

• US 290 eastbound mainlanes from FM 529 to Beltway 8 will have one inside lane closed overnight from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., Friday, April 28.

Project H (Pinemont to W. Little York) The contractor will continue with placing pavement.

• US 290 westbound mainlanes from Pinemont to W. Tidwell will have one inside lane closed nightly from 9 p.m. to 5 a .m., through Wednesday, May 3.

Project I (W. 34th to Pinemont) The contractor will work on storm drain installation.

• US 290 westbound frontage road from Brickhouse Gully to Berendo will have one outside lane closed from 9 a.m. to 3 a.m., Saturday, April 29.

A Glimpse Ahead

• US 290 eastbound connector ramps to IH 610 North and South will be closed nightly from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., Monday, May 1 through Friday, May 5. Drivers will be detoured to the IH 10 connector.
• Hollister north- and southbound under US 290 will be closed continuously from 9 p.m., Friday, May 5 to 11 a.m., Saturday, May 6. Drivers will be detoured to the frontage road and U-turn. The US 290 eastbound exit ramp to Tidwell/Hollister will also be closed.
