Boy, 11, Dies When Struck By Car
Police believe the boy was walking to school when he was hit and killed by a passing car.

IRVING, TX — Police in Irving are investigating a Tuesday morning incident that left an 11-year-old boy dead in the 3000 block of State Highway 161.
According to a statement from Irving Police Department, several drivers called 9-1-1 around 7:00 a.m. Tuesday to report a pedestrian who had been struck by a car.
Police say the boy was believed to be on his way to the school when he was struck. Police found him dead at the scene.

The driver of the car stopped to help and immediately called police, the statement reads.
Southbound lanes of 161 were closed for several hours during an investigation.

The boy's identity has not been released at this time.
