The $3.359 million project began in fall 2019. The 32-year-old facility’s footprint was expanded from just over 16,000 square feet to 27,297 square feet. The rec center now includes a second gym with a futsal court and basketball court installed, new restrooms and locker rooms, expanded weight and game rooms, updated HVAC units and additional parking.
The project was a collaborative effort between the city’s Parks and Recreation and Planning and Community Development departments, as well as the Capital Improvement Program. The project was made possible through the Department of Housing and Urban Development's Section 108 Loan Guarantee Program.
