Dallas County Issues Revised Order for COVID-19 Disaster Declaration

Dallas County has updated its orders pertaining to the COVID-19 disaster declaration, effective 10 a.m. March 20. In addition to the orders updated on March 16 that close dine-in services, as well as bars, gyms and other public businesses, the county orders, through 11:59 p.m. April 3:
- All community gatherings of 50 persons or more are prohibited.
- All social gatherings of more than 10 persons are prohibited
- High-risk persons, including the elderly and those with underlying medical conditions, are urged to cancel, reschedule or not attend any event.
- All elective medical, surgical and dental procedures are prohibited anywhere in Dallas County.

- Dallas County tax and passport offices are closed for in-person services.
- Critical infrastructure, including communications, emergency services, transportation systems, and water and wastewater systems are ordered to continue operations with screening precautions to protect employees.
- Local delivery hours ordinances are suspended for the fast and safe delivery of food products, medicine and medical supplies.
- Justices of the Peace are advised to suspend all eviction hearings and writs of possession for at least the next 60 days.
- In the event of a positive test for coronavirus, an entire household, not just the affected person, are required to isolate at home. All members of the household are prohibited from attending school, work or any other community function.
- Nursing homes, retirement and long-term care facilities are instructed to prohibit non-essential visitors from their facilities.
- Public and private schools must provide a safety plan to the Dallas County of Homeland Security and Emergency Management 72 hours before students return to the classrooms.
