Pit Bull Terriers Maul, Kill Irving Woman At Animal Hospital

Johana Villafane, of Irving, was attacked by her two pit bull terriers in an exercise area of an animal hospital. She died of her injuries.

IRVING, TX — Police are investigating after two pit bull terriers attacked and killed their Irving dog-owner at an animal hospital Saturday. The dogs had been quarantined at the vet clinic, located near the 3000 block of O'Connor Road in Irving, for observation stemming from a recent biting, police said.

The owner, identified as Johana Villafane, 33, of Irving, was at the clinic to feed her dogs and was attacked around 11:45 a.m. outside an exercise area, police said. Stadd and pramedics tried to help the woman, along with police officers who responded to the scene. The officers were unable to reach her, and one officer shot and killed both dogs, which police said continued to behave aggressively.

Villafane was rushed to a hospital with life-threatening injuries and later died.
