She is currently working on her master's thesis to complete her journalism M.A. from the University of Nebraska – Lincoln. Nancy is also on the board of the Native American Journalists Association.

Her previous reporting internships include the Associated Press in Boston, the Seattle Times, the Minneapolis Star Tribune and two Colorado dailies.
