1. Blacksburg Transit adjusts future routes due to electric bus recall (wfxrtv.com) — Starting January 18, 2026, weekday Blacksburg Transit riders will see reduced frequency and altered daytime routes because electric bus recalls are limiting battery capacity. Service between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. on several lines will slow from every 15 minutes to every 30 minutes, though evenings and weekends stay the same. BT hopes to restore full service in the spring as temperatures rise.
   

2. Tuesdays of Honor: Wayne Fenton (wdbj7.com) — A Blacksburg-based feature spotlights Vietnam veteran Wayne Fenton, who deployed at 18, battled malaria overseas, and built a thriving family life after returning home. The piece honors both his service and his wife’s sacrifice, and invites locals to submit photos and stories of other veterans to be recognized in future “Tuesdays of Honor” segments.
   

3. Kark, Warren Ronald (montcova.com) — Blacksburg readers are remembering Warren Ronald Kark, a former Virginia Tech university architect whose master plan and design concepts helped shape the campus you see today. The longtime architect, teacher, and avid traveler requested no formal services, and his family suggests memorial gifts to the Hahn Horticulture Garden at Virginia Tech in his honor.
   

4. New wrestling coach chosen at BHS (montcova.com) — Blacksburg High School has tapped Dominic Williams as its new wrestling coach, aiming to stabilize and grow a program that had struggled to find leadership. Williams, who also assists with Blacksburg varsity football and teaches in Christiansburg, wants wrestlers to improve on the mat while developing life skills. He plans competitive tournaments, rigorous practices, and steady week-to-week progress.
