• Crisis Center comes to Alleghany Highlands (wsls.com) — A new 24/7 mental health crisis receiving center is coming to Covington, bringing $3.9 million in state funding and much-needed local support for adults and children in crisis. Opening in fall 2026, it will reduce long-distance transports, ease pressure on law enforcement, and eventually add crisis stabilization beds and a mobile crisis team.
   

• Obituary: Arnold Morgan, 83 - West Virginia Daily News (wvdn.com) — Covington residents are mourning the passing of 83-year-old Arnold Morgan, a longtime community member who worked as an engineer with Westvaco in Covington and later ran his own consulting business. Born in West Virginia, he was also a founding pastor in Ronceverte and is remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. A celebration of life is planned for the spring.
