Alicia Hutchison Thomas, 44

Alicia Hutchison Thomas, age 44, of Fairfax, Virginia, passed away on August 15th at Virginia Hospital Center. Alicia courageously battled metastatic breast cancer for almost five years. She is survived by her husband Patrick Thomas of Fairfax, Virginia; three daughters, Sydney (10), Emma (9) and Caitlin (7). Beloved daughter of Paul Buren Hutchison Jr. and Virginia “Dot” Hutchison of Winder, Georgia. Beloved sister of Paul Buren Hutchison, III and his wife Melissa Hutchison. Beloved daughter-in law of Phil and Eileen Thomas. Alicia is also survived by Anne Barlas, her devoted friend for 35 years. She has many cousins, nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.

Alicia was born in Camp Zama, Sagamihara, Japan on September 23, 1969 and grew up in Fredericksburg, Virginia. She attended Courtland High School and graduated from Old Dominion University with a degree in Finance. Alicia worked as a financial manager at Hecht’s/Macy’s for 17 years where she had many close friends. She was a loving and active mother who was very involved in her childrens’ many community activities including school, cheer, dance, swim and softball. In spite of the effects of her rigorous treatments she insisted on attending every one of her childrens’ events up until her last days. Alicia especially enjoyed relaxing with her family at Rehoboth Beach and on the Chesapeake Bay.

Visitation will be held at Fairfax Memorial Funeral Home on Thursday, August 21st from 5 – 8pm. A celebration of Alicia’s life will be held on Friday, August 22nd at 10am at Fairfax United Methodist Church, 10300 Stratford Ave., Fairfax, VA. Inurnment at Fairfax Memorial Park Cemetery at 11:30 Friday. Reception on Friday, August 22nd at Fairfax United Methodist Church fellowship hall from 1 – 3pm, all are welcome!
