ARTstars Workshop (R.C. Gorman) at ARTfactory

Rudolph Carl Gorman was a Native American artist born in Chinle, Arizona. He grew up learning Navajo legends and stories of his artist ancestors, which greatly influenced his artwork. In 1973 the “Masterworks of the American Indian” show was held at the Metropolitan Museum in New York City, where Gorman was the only living artist to be included in the show. His work often depicted Native American women and are known for their fluid forms and vibrant colors. While his most recognizable works are lithographs, we will take inspiration from his art to introduce students to watercolors featuring simple figures and compelling landscape backgrounds. For ages 11-14

ARTstars Workshops are mini classes for youth introducing a celebrated artist with a unique point of view.
