Blizzard 2016: When Will the Snow Stop in Fairfax?

The Metro DC area will see snow fall at 1 to 2 inches per hour Saturday, according to the National Weather Service.

Northern Virginia and the metro DC area Saturday will continue to see moderate to heavy snow falling throughout the day, with snow gradually tapering off Saturday night, Matt Elliott, meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Sterling, said Saturday morning.

Wind gusts were clocked at 50 MPH Saturday morning at Dulles Washington International Airport, Elliott said. Blowing snow is likely hampering road-clearing efforts of the hundreds of snowplow trucks in the region, he said.

The blowing snow will continue into Sunday, but not as strong as Saturday, he said.
