Children's Concert in Fairfax City Thursday Night

The family-friendly event features an Instrument Petting Zoo, ice cream, balloons, a march and more.

Looking for a way to have some family-friendly summer fun with the kids? Here's one way.

The City of Fairfax Band Association presents its free Children’s Concert Thursday evening.

The event begins at 6:30 p.m. with an Instrument Petting Zoo, where children are encouraged to touch and try out different instruments. According to the band, "this interactive learning experience gives children the opportunity to learn about music and musical instruments in a unique and personalized way directly from City Band members."

The City of Fairfax Band will then perform selections from Aladdin, The Music of Disneyland, The Complete Harry Potter, and other pieces.

Adding to the fun will be ice cream, free balloons for the kids, a children's march and more.

The concert will take place at the Stacy C. Sherwood Community Center, 3740 Old Lee Highway.

This free outdoor event and concert is sponsored by Sandy Spring Bank.
