County Wants To Convert Park Into Athletic Complex
Site next to elementary school would have five ballfields, says Park Authority.

The Fairfax County Park Authority is drawing up plans for a new athletic complex west of the Fairfax County Parkway next to Willow Springs Elementary School.
The Park Authority wants to redevelop a 67-acre park off Braddock Road to create space for five baseball diamonds, outdoor fitness stations, trails, a picnic shelter, a concession stand and more parking spaces. The park currently has three baseball diamonds.

The Park Authority hosted a public hearing on the park proposal on Tuesday evening at the elementary school, but it will take public comments by email through Aug. 14; the address is parkmail@fairfaxcounty.gov.
Refinements to the final plan will be made, if necessary, based on public input, the Park Authority said. The authority’s board is scheduled to consider plans for the athletic complex this fall. To find out more about those plans, please click here.
