COVID-19 Update: Nearly 20% Of Virginians Fully Vaccinated
More than 4.4 million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in Virginia.
VIRGINIA — Vaccinations for the new coronavirus continue to climb across the the state. As of Thursday morning, 4,414,376 total doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered. In total, 1,639,623 people or 19.2 percent of Virginians have been fully vaccinated.
For the week of March 29-April 4, there were 540,018 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine administered in Virginia, according to the Virginia Department of Health. On average, 77,145 doses were administered per day across the state.

Virginia's cases, hospitalizations and positive averages have stabilized after decreases from January through parts of March. On Thursday, 1,928 new COVID-19 cases were reported, bringing the seven-day average of daily cases to 1,469. The peak average had been 6,166 on Jan. 18.

The positive average of PCR tests is 6.3 percent as of April 4, compared to a peak above 17 percent for several days in January. The number of daily testing encounters is also down since January. An average of 11,125 testing encounters are being reported as of April 7, compared to a peak of 35,039 on Jan. 14.
COVID-19 hospitalizations totaled 1,111 on Thursday, including 244 patients in the intensive care units and 133 on ventilators. By comparison, the peak average number of patients was above 3,000 for part of January.

Ventilator use among all hospital patients is at 29 percent, and ICU occupancy is at 75 percent, according to the Virginia Hospital & Healthcare Association.
There were 21 new deaths reported on Thursday. So far, the highest days for deaths by death certificate data were in January; the top day was Jan. 8 with 84 confirmed positive and 22 probable COVID-19 deaths.

- Fairfax County: 72,781 cases, 3,769 hospitalizations, 1,049 deaths; increase of 230 cases and four hospitalizations
- Fairfax City: 529 cases, 45 hospitalizations, 18 deaths; increase of one case
- Falls Church: 403 cases, 20 hospitalizations, nine deaths; one less case
- Loudoun County: 25,897 cases, 963 hospitalizations, 273 deaths; increase of 103 cases and three hospitalization
- Manassas: 4,221 cases, 169 hospitalizations, 45 deaths; increase of 14 cases and one hospitalization
- Manassas Park: 1,175 cases, 68 hospitalizations, 12 deaths; one less case and increase of one hospitalization
- Prince William County: 42,828 cases, 1,552 hospitalizations, 474 deaths; increase of 172 cases and 11 hospitalizations
- Fredericksburg: 2,087 cases, 96 hospitalizations, 22 deaths; increase of six cases
