Fairfax City Extends Deadline For Small Business Grant Program
Fairfax City plans to award 150 grants of $5,000 and $10,000 to businesses in the city that have been impacted by the coronavirus crisis.
FAIRFAX CITY, VA — Fairfax City’s Economic Development Authority extended the deadline for local businesses to demonstrate eligibility for Fairfax City ReConnected Grants to July 15. The city plans to award 150 grants of $5,000 and $10,000 to businesses in the city that meet certain eligibility requirements.
More than 2,000 businesses in Fairfax City may be eligible for the grants, which can be used to reimburse expenses incurred due to the coronavirus crisis, the city said. As of Tuesday, 52 Fairfax City businesses have submitted eligibility requirements and will be notified next week to file official applications.
Businesses should submit eligibility requirements to the EDA. The authority will notify potential grantees of eligibility between July 16 and July 19, and eligible businesses can then submit official applications between July 20 and July 27. The EDA will notify grantees of awards July 28 through Aug. 3. Payment of the grants will begin in August.

Businesses requesting $10,000 will be required to provide proposals for how they will emerge stronger from the coronavirus crisis. Grants will be awarded only to businesses with 30 employees or fewer.
