Fairfax Falls Short in 6A State Field Hockey Semifnals
Rebels lose 1-0 Friday against Cox; first loss of season; Fairfax finishes 23-1.

VIRGINIA BEACH, VA — A remarkable run by the Fairfax girls field hockey team ended Friday with a 1-0 loss against Cox in the Virginia High School League 6A state semifinals at the USA Field Hockey Regional Training Center— the Rebels' first loss of the season.
Fairfax finished 23-1.
Of small consolation to the Rebels: Cox (19-4) beat defending state champion First Colonial 2-1 the next day for its state-record 19th state field hockey title.

Against Fairfax, Cox scored the game's lone goal in the first half and held off the Rebels the rest of the way.
