Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department firefighters and paramedics will spend time during the week to focus on safety, health, training, and education. Informational videos will be provided each shift to include discussion topics on nutrition, heart health, heat hydration, and exposure mitigation. The goal is to provide education and helpful solutions to some of the harmful impacts of firefighting and emergency response and ensure everyone is ready to respond to the next emergency.
Safety Stand Down is a joint initiative of the IAFC, the National Volunteer Fire Council, and the National Fire Protection Association.
